Jaan Performance Engine: our WordPress plugin for a faster site
The Jaan Performance Engine is our own WordPress plugin that automatically makes your website faster: images are compressed and served in modern formats, pages and files are cached and minified, and everything works together with the Redis object cache of your plan. The plugin is included free with every WWW4 hosting plan; you install it yourself and ask us for an API key.
On this page you can read exactly what the plugin does, what you can expect from it and how to install it in a quarter of an hour. No technical settings needed: the plugin is tuned to our hosting environment and needs no additional caching or optimisation plugins.
What the plugin optimises
Most slow WordPress sites are slow because of imagery and because of files that are rebuilt on every page view. That is exactly where the plugin steps in.
Compressing images
Every image is compressed automatically without visible loss of quality, and served in a modern format such as WebP or AVIF where the browser supports it. You do not need to resize anything in advance.
Lazy loading
Images below the fold only load when the visitor scrolls towards them. The first render of the page becomes lighter and faster as a result, which shows immediately in the Core Web Vitals.
Page and browser caching
Pages are not rebuilt for every visitor, and your visitor's browser may keep files that do not change. That saves server work under heavy traffic.
Minification and compression
HTML, CSS and JavaScript are stripped of superfluous characters and sent compressed with GZIP or Brotli. Smaller files, shorter load times, without changing anything in your code.
CDN-ready
The plugin is prepared to serve static files through a content delivery network, for sites with visitors outside Belgium. For most Belgian sites that is not necessary: the servers are already close by.
Working with Redis
If the Redis object cache of your plan is activated, the plugin uses it to keep database queries in memory. Ask us to activate Redis if that has not been done yet.
What you can expect from it
What the plugin delivers in practice depends on your theme, your plugins and your content. These are the effects we see in practice.
How much faster your site gets exactly, we do not say in a percentage: a site with a heavy page builder and thirty plugins has a very different starting point from a simple business site. Measure before and after with Google's Core Web Vitals reports, and you will see the difference for your own site.
Download the Jaan Performance Engine
Below you download the current version as a zip file and upload it in WordPress. The plugin works with an API key linked to your WWW4 hosting plan; you request it from our support.
Installing in four steps
Allow a quarter of an hour, including requesting the key. You need administrator access to your WordPress site.
Download the zip file
Click the download button on this page and save the zip file on your computer. Do not unpack it: WordPress expects the zip itself.
Upload the plugin in WordPress
In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins, choose Add New Plugin and then Upload Plugin. Select the zip file and click Install Now.
Activate the plugin
After installation, click Activate Plugin. The Jaan Performance Engine then appears as its own item in the menu of your admin area.
Enter your API key
Request your API key from our support, stating the domain name of your site. Paste the key into the plugin settings; from then on it optimises your site automatically. Without a key the plugin stays inactive.
Who it is for and what you need
The plugin is part of your WWW4 hosting and does not work on sites hosted elsewhere. If you want to use it, switching is the first step: moving your site is part of the service.
